The Lopez Animal Protection Society (LAPS)
Is located in the Village Center Building - close to Paper Scissor on the Rock and next to Village Cycles. With the help of a generous donor, we have moved into this sweet facility and have furnished it with treasures from the Take It Or Leave It, the Thrift Shop, and offerings from big-hearted Lopezians. There are lots of pet supplies available for a small donation, as well as kitchen towels ($10 donation) and tote bags ($15 donation) crafted for LAPS by “Sally by the Sea”. If you wish to purchase an item, simply send an email found on the "Contact Us" page and we'll get in touch with you.

LAPS Request for Donations - Animal Food for Food Bank
As COVID-19 continues to impact our island, Lopez Animal Protection Society (LAPS) has helped by delivering dog and cat food to the Lopez Island Family Resource Center (LIFRC) Food Bank. Expected household needs for animal food each week will be approximately 120 pounds of dog food and 24 pounds of cat food. The request for help to feed our island animals is great and has exhausted our supplies, but we continue to order and purchase more food to help out. LAPS will gratefully accept your donations of dog and cat food to help fill this need. We are located in the village by PSR and Village Cycles. There is a large bin by the front door marked “Donations.” You can drop off what you can share in the donation bin. If you prefer to offer a cash donation, please go to the Donate Page, or mail a check to PO Box 474, Lopez Island, WA 98261 (Please identify it for Food Bank animal food). You may also contact us for pickup. Call 360-298-WAGS (9247). Thank you for helping to take care of Lopez critters.

SPRING IS COMING!
.......also lambs, kids, calves, chicks and ducklings.
Please protect these vulnerable young animals;
AND your dog. Allowing your dog to run at large can endanger your dog's safety and place livestock in harm’s way.
It also is against the law (SJCC 6.08) and there are serious consequences for owners and their dogs that are involved in livestock incidents. Over the years, dog attacks on Lopez Island have resulted in numerous injuries and death to livestock. Even livestock that is “just chased” can cause serious injury, especially if they are pregnant.
If you, or your visitors, own a dog, PLEASE keep them under your control at all times.
